Camino del Norte - August/September 2024

The day after my granddaughter Bonnie’s 2nd birthday I’ll be flying with Etihad to Madrid. From there I will make my way to the beautiful San Sebastián and commence my third Camino trek , this time the Camino del Norte.  The walk begins in Irun, which is 20 odd ks east of San Sebastián and close to the French border. I’ll walk back to San Sebastián and onto Bilbao. A walk of 124k, which will take a week. From Bilbao I’ll then walk to Santander , which will take another week for the 104k.  From Santander I’ll take a bus ride 191ks to Oviedo and enjoy a rest day before journeying on to Lugo about 250k.  From Lugo I’ll walk the 95k to Santiago de Compostela, rest a day and continue 78k to Finisterre and then 28k to Muxía.  The total walk will be about 450k and should take a bit over 4 weeks. I’ll make my way back to Santiago de Compostela and catch up with David Slattery and then I have about 5 days before flying back home from Madrid. I haven’t decided how to fill in t...
